Lantern Lighting Stage: Located on the west side of the central theme lantern Description: The Lantern Lighting Stage is visually impressive with its symmetrical design and backdrop presenting the beauty of the sun rising over Alishan. Two wings project from the central stage in three-fold form. Apart from the richly colored backdrop, red is the dominant color of the stage and surrounding carpeted areas.
Themes: The secondary theme lanterns are second only to the central theme lantern in terms of scale and prominence. They are designed around propitious themes, including "Two Dragons Playing with Pearl," "Two Phoenixes Playing in Spring," "Abundant Wealth," and "Auspicious Lion Playing with Sphere." Location: Three secondary theme lanterns are located at the central area of the CountyGovernmentPlaza. A fourth lantern is located between the "Lantern Competition Area" and "Lanterns of Joy Area." Description: This area features 12 lantern displays portraying the beauty of ChiayiCounty. Traditional lantern artists and winners of past decorative lantern competitions were invited to present designs, from which the 12 displays were chosen through an open selection process. Description: The blessing lanterns are raised on posts of uniform size and arranged in an evenly spaced formation. Festival goers can attach cards to the base of the lanterns conveying their wishes for the new year. This concept is an extension of the practice in earlier times of forming a simple space, defined by persimmon-shaped lanterns on fir poles, to provide a focal point for the people's hopes and wishes. Location: East side of the Main Display Area.
Description: The scenic wonders of Chiayi are brilliantly represented in light, including scenes of Alishan, the farmlands of the Jianan Plain, and coastal fishing boats. The titles of these displays are, respectively, "Splendor of Rueisuei," "SpringGardens," and "Fishing Boat Lights Under the Moon." Location: Designated locations around the festival venue.
