Lantern Lighting Stage: Located on the west side of the central theme lantern
Description: The Lantern Lighting Stage is visually impressive with its symmetrical design and backdrop presenting the beauty of the sun rising over Alishan. Two wings project from the central stage in three-fold form. Apart from the richly colored backdrop, red is the dominant color of the stage and surrounding carpeted areas.

 

Themes: The secondary theme lanterns are second only to the central theme lantern in terms of scale and prominence. They are designed around propitious themes, including "Two Dragons Playing with Pearl," "Two Phoenixes Playing in Spring," "Abundant Wealth," and "Auspicious Lion Playing with Sphere."
Location: Three secondary theme lanterns are located at the central area of the CountyGovernmentPlaza. A fourth lantern is located between the "Lantern Competition Area" and "Lanterns of Joy Area."

Designers: Chen Chin-chuan and Lin Chien-er of the Chinese Lantern Art Association.

 

Description: This area features 12 lantern displays portraying the beauty of ChiayiCounty. Traditional lantern artists and winners of past decorative lantern competitions were invited to present designs, from which the 12 displays were chosen through an open selection process.
Location: North side of the Lantern Lighting Stage and Performance Stage

Designers: Chuang Ching-yu, Lin Chien-er, Wang Yu-jen, Lin Yu-chu, Chiu Chuang-ting, Chuang Pai-chen, Wang Yao-teng, Chiang Han-ching, Wu Yu-hsun, Chuang Chin-lu, and Hsieh Chuang Ya-ting.

 
 

Description: Lanterns on a variety of themes are presented in this area by tourism and travel businesses, local tourism offices of other countries, and other public and private organizations.
Location: North side of the Main Display Area

Description: 60 lanterns designed by the Chinese Lantern Art Association.
Location: South side of the Lantern Lighting Stage and Performance Stage.

 
 

Description: This area displays lanterns submitted by students and the general public for the Lantern Competition sponsored by the Chiayi County Government.
Location: East side of the Main Display Area.

 
 

Description: The blessing lanterns are raised on posts of uniform size and arranged in an evenly spaced formation. Festival goers can attach cards to the base of the lanterns conveying their wishes for the new year. This concept is an extension of the practice in earlier times of forming a simple space, defined by persimmon-shaped lanterns on fir poles, to provide a focal point for the people's hopes and wishes.
Location: East side of the Main Display Area.

 

Description: The scenic wonders of Chiayi are brilliantly represented in light, including scenes of Alishan, the farmlands of the Jianan Plain, and coastal fishing boats. The titles of these displays are, respectively, "Splendor of Rueisuei," "SpringGardens," and "Fishing Boat Lights Under the Moon."
Location: Designated locations around the festival venue.

 
 

Description: This area displays uniquely designed lanterns created by artists at the invitation of the Chiayi County Government.
Location: North side of the CountyGovernment building.
Organizer: Cultural Affairs Bureau, ChiayiCounty Government
Participants: Artists and religious groups from ChiayiCounty

 

Description: The lanterns displayed in this area were created by religious organizations in Chiayi.
Location: Southeast side of the Main Display Area.
Participating organizations: Catholic Chiayi Diocese, Christian Churches Union Development Association of Chiayi City, GangkouTemple in Bengang, Fongtian Tempe in Singang, BantianyanZihyunTemple, DashihyeTemple in Minsyong.
Organizers: Cultural Affairs Bureau and Civil Affairs Bureau, ChiayiCounty Government.

 
Description: Displays of traditional folk arts, toys, and local handicrafts, specialties and snacks.
Location: East side of the Main Display Area.
Organizer: ChiayiCounty Government.
