2007台灣燈會

In 1990, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau began holding the Taipei Lantern Festival to foster local culture and to bring the traditions of Taiwan onto the international stage and into the modern age. Over the years, the festival has steadily grown to become one of Taiwan's biggest and internationally best-known tourism events.

Festival: March 4~11, 2007

CountyGovernmentPlaza, TaibaoCity, ChiayiCounty

The 2007 Taiwan Lantern Festival will be held at the Chiayi County Special Administrative Area near the CountyGovernment building and the National Palace Museum Southern Branch in TaibaoCity, ChiayiCounty. The large venue is centered on the plaza area connecting the various lantern display areas around its circular form. The central theme lantern and three secondary theme lanterns occupy the four cardinal points of the plaza. In the spirit of this year's theme zodiac animal—the pig, the lanterns symbolize the hopes for national unity and contentment, social harmony, fortune, health, safety, favorable weather, and peace and prosperity. Colorfully illuminated, the lanterns convey the unique beauty of Taiwan, from the Taiwan boar and sunrise over Alishan to the rice fields of the Jianan Plain and illuminated fishing boats of the coast, adding to the dazzle and fun of the festival.
